Welcome to Pride and Health!

ORGULLO Y SALUD (Pride & Health) serves as an advisory board on behalf of the Hispanic community for the SC HIV Planning Council.

LET'S STOP HIV TOGETHER!

…as we join CDC's evidence-based campaign aimed at stopping HIV stigma, promoting HIV testing, prevention, treatment, and awareness.

Orgullo & Salud identifies the needs and barriers faced by Hispanics who might be at risk for, or who are affected by, HIV in South Carolina.

The ORGULLO Y SALUD workgroup partners & collaborates with agencies & health care providers assisting South Carolina in the fight against HIV.

Our goal is to develop strategies with agencies to reach persons for whom Spanish is their primary language and are at risk for HIV and other STDs.

We Promote HIV Prevention in the Hispanic Community by:

  • Coordinating high-impact partnerships with state, local, and community-based healthcare providers; community organizations, media and businesses; and educational and faith-based institutions.
  • Making access to HIV testing easy, with fact-based support to encourage people to make HIV testing part of everyone's routine checkups.
  • Promote a healthy life and reduce high risk behaviors.
  • Facilitating the access in the Hispanic community to prevention components including low risk behaviors, knowing their HIV status, and making personal health choices such as abstinence, condom use, or PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis).
